Flora in Love - A Bright & Blossoming Cocktail with Art Deco Gin
A Cocktail That Blooms With Every Sip
Some cocktails feel like a moment of sunshine — light, joyful, fragrant, and quietly beautiful. Flora in Love is exactly that kind of drink. It’s en elevated gin and tonic celebrating florals, stone fruit, citrus, and the effortlessly elegant structure of Rothwell Distillery’s Art Deco Gin.
This cocktail takes inspiration from the gardens and wild botanicals that surround the Mt Rothwell Homestead in Little River. Just as the landscape shifts with the seasons, Flora in Love captures a sense of freshness and gentle sweetness that feels both romantic and revitalising.
Balanced, fragrant, and refreshingly light, it’s the perfect drink for warm afternoons, outdoor gatherings, and anyone who appreciates a fruit-forward cocktail without heaviness or excess sweetness.
The Gin Behind the Bloom: Rothwell Distillery’s Art Deco Gin
Distilled on-site at the historical Mt Rothwell Homestead, Art Deco Gin reflects the refinement and bold creativity of the early 20th-century Art Deco era. Elegantly structured and crafted in a classic London Dry style, it offers a familiar, timeless base enriched with botanicals grown on the property itself.
Rothwell Distillery’s paddock-to-bottle philosophy means the botanicals are not just locally sourced — they’re grown mere metres from the stills. This deeply rooted connection to the land comes through in the gin’s:
- Crisp, clean juniper foundation
- Refined botanical balance inspired by Australian natives
- Approachable, elegant flavour profile perfect for versatile cocktail mixing
- Classic London Dry structure with a modern, local touch
In Flora in Love, the gin acts as the anchor — grounding the sweetness of apricot and the brightness of lemon with a crisp, refreshing finish.
What Flora in Love Tastes Like
This cocktail is delicate, fruit-forward and beautifully refreshing. Its profile is:
- Lightly floral from the botanicals in Art Deco Gin
- Softly sweet and fruity from the apricot liqueur
- Bright and zesty with lemon juice lifting the palate
- Effervescent and refreshing thanks to the tonic water topper
- Beautifully balanced with a simple syrup that rounds out the acidity
Think of it as a spring garden in a glass — gentle, uplifting, and perfect for slow sipping.
